Francis M. Whelan, 83, known affectionately to friends and family as Frank, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at his home in Keansburg. He was born and raised in Greenwich Village, New York, prior to moving to Keansburg in 1969.
Frank's life was one of steadfast love and commitment, illustrated by his beautiful marriage of 61 years to his loving wife, Maureen Whelan. Together, they built a family that became Frank's pride and joy. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Patrick (Alekandra) Whelan and Frank Whelan, and cherished the time spent with his two grandchildren, Gaby and Amanda, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Simon and Ellis. The legacy of Frank's gentle spirit and wisdom will live on through them.
In his professional life, Frank was a respected figure on Wall Street, where he served as an order processor. His career was defined by his hard work and integrity, leading to a successful tenure at Lobe Partners in New York, from which he eventually retired.
He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, where he found joy in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie around the bingo tables. Frank was an avid fan of the Knicks and the Yankees, supporting his teams through thick and thin.
Frank's character was one of admirable simplicity; he was a good man, whose actions spoke louder than words with his dedication to his family and friends. As a husband, he was tender and affectionate; as a father, he was supportive and nurturing.
The loss of Frank M. Whelan will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished and his life celebrated by those who were touched by his kindness. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy of love, integrity, and joy for life will endure.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. Cremation will be private.
