Mary Ann Franklin, 61, of Palm Harbor, FL, formally of Keansburg, although unexpected, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday March 16, 2024.
Mary Ann was one of 11 children, born July 29, 1962 to Francis and Marion Brown of Hazlet. She married John Franklin of Highlands, NJ 43 years ago. Mary Ann and John Franklin lived most of their life in Keansburg, before retiring to Palm Harbor in 2017.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Francis Brown; her mother in-law, Mary Franklin; a brother, Robert Brown; a sister, Patricia Kenny; and two brother in-laws, Raymond O’Brien and Robert Franklin.
Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband, John Franklin of FL; her loving children and spouses; John and Dede Franklin of Jacksonville FL, Regina Franklin of Bradley Beach NJ, Kelliann and Thomas Giufurta of Palm Harbor FL, Erin and Thomas Colabella of Port Monmouth NJ, and Megan Franklin of Palm Harbor FL, as well as her 17 Grandchildren; Victoria, Chase, Jack, Keeliegh, Lucas, Erika, TJ, Thomas Jr., Kaelyn, Kaiden, Travis, Kaelani, Madelyn, Lauren, Kaylene, Blake, Tanner, and 1 Great-Grandchild; Christopher. Her bond with her children and grandchildren was a source of immense happiness and fulfillment throughout her life. Mary Ann and John were very blessed.
Mary Ann is also survived by her loving brothers, Daniel Brown of Deal, Peter Brown of NY, Dennis Brown of Holmdel, And Eugene Brown of LA; and her loving sisters, Barbara O’Brien of FL and Kathleen Adlard of CA.
Mary Ann went on to be a home health aide for many years and most recently an employee of Publix in Palm Harbor FL. Mary Ann was elected to the Keansburg Board of Education, was a former member of the Keansburg PTA, and devoted much time to the Keansburg Titan’s sports and activities. She enjoyed hitting the casino and playing slots in AC. Maryann would never turn down the opportunity to join her grandkids in outdoor adventures, most recently enjoying time boating.
Mary Ann was loved by all and highly regarded in the community. Her home became a home away from home for many regardless of the situation. She accepted all as her own and became a second mother to many. She gathered many nicknames over the years from those whom she loved and those who loved her just as much. Mama Dukes, Big Lovin, Mere, Gammie Gammie. Mary Ann was more than a mom, an aunt, a wife, and a sister. She was most importantly a friend and cheerleader to all. Life will never be the same without her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, March 24th, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Monday there will be a 9:30am Mass at St. Catherine’s Church in Middletown. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ. In lieu of flowers family will be accepting donations.
