Alice Christie, of Keansburg, a spirited and vivacious soul, passed away peacefully at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ, on July 27, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on May 31, 1935, in the bustling heart of Manhattan, NY, Alice's life was a tapestry of joy, resilience, and an indomitable love for her family and friends.
Alice was a woman of great vitality and charm. Her early years were spent in the lively streets of Hell's Kitchen, where she honed her knack for hosting and her love for dance and music. She carried this zest for life throughout her years, always being the life of the party and ensuring everyone had a memorable time. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence was a comfort to all who knew her.
As a young woman, Alice's career began at the Alvin Theater in New York, where she delighted in the magic of the stage as an usherette. She later worked as a cashier at the Off-Track Betting Corporation (OTB), sharing her sharp wit and warm smile with every patron. Alice found her true calling in real estate, where she dedicated many years as a realtor for VRI, helping countless families find their dream homes. Her work ethic and dedication to her clients were unparalleled, leaving a legacy of trust and excellence in the industry.
Beyond her professional life, Alice was deeply involved in her community. She served as the secretary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in New York and was known for running crap games with a fair but firm hand. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly, whether she was selling swag or organizing the most talked-about parties. Alice's love for music had her swaying to the oldies, and her famous Scotch Sours were a highlight of every gathering.
Alice's passion for life extended to the racetrack, where she indulged in her fondness for gambling. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her profound love for her family. She was the matriarch who held holidays and celebrations close to her heart, ensuring each one was filled with laughter, dance, and cherished memories.
Predeceased by her parents, Richard and Mildred Fray; her beloved husband, Delbert "Buddy" Christie; her daughter, Kelly Ann Williamson; and her sister, Katherine Reilly, Alice's legacy of love and warmth lives on through her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Claudia Christie of Middletown; her daughter and son-in-law, Alice "Sweetie" and Buddy Goss of FL; her brother and sister in-law, Richard and Charlotte Fray of Hazlet; her sisters, Carol O'Hare of Belmar, Barbara Todoulakis of California, and Linda Byriter of Florida.
Alice was the proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Christie, Frank, Mike, Richard Jr., Shannon, Sean, Dana, Megan, and Gary. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
Her spirit, a brilliant blend of generosity, humor, and strength, will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
