Denis P. Nelan, 69, of Matawan, passed away on Tuesday, July 19th, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. He was born in Manhattan, raised in West Keansburg, prior to moving to Matawan in 1992. Denis served in the US Army, during Vietnam. He was a cab driver for Red Bank Taxi and Patsy’s Cab and was an avid Yankee fan. He enjoyed going to the race track, going to concerts and listening to all types of music. Denis loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Denis was pre deceased by his parents, Cornelius and Marion Nelan; and his sister, Maura Parker. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Susan Nelan of Matawan; his son, Joseph Nelan of Matawan; his 2 daughters and son in-law, Crystal Barton of Toms River and Jackie and Jeremy Rodgers of East Brunswick; 4 brothers, Neil Nelan of Connecticut, Michael Nelan of Hazlet, Joseph Nelan of Keansburg and Danny Nelan of Pennsylvania; 3 sisters, Patricia Manjorin of Pennsylvania, Cathy Neal of Texas, Chrissy Davino of West Keansburg; 4 grandchildren Lily, Lori, Jackie and Cash. Many loved nieces, nephews and extended family. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, from 6-8pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. A religious service will be held at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A gathering will take place at the funeral home 9:00am on Wednesday morning and the burial will follow at 11:00am on Wednesday at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite school music program in Denis’s honor.
