Dennis Menture, a cherished family man, a beloved friend, a respected longshoreman, and a former Keansburg resident for most of his life, passed away peacefully at home in Whiting, NJ on January 19, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on June 16, 1949, in Orange, NJ, Dennis lived a life marked by devotion to his loved ones and a strong work ethic.
Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Rachel Menture, and Theresa Menture Dennis was the heart of a large, loving family. His legacy continues through his three loving sons, William (Tricia) Menture, Dennis (Jenna) Menture, and Timothy (Anita) Menture, who will forever remember him as a guiding light in their lives. His six grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy, will miss their grandfather's warm presence and the stories he shared.
Dennis is also survived by his two brothers, William, and Raymond Menture; his sister, Rachel Menture; and was a caring brother to his predeceased siblings, Anthony Menture Sr., Louis Menture, Thomas Menture Jr., James Menture, June Menture, and Margaret Ferraro. His extended family, including many nieces, nephews, and cousins, will fondly recall his kindness and the ways he enriched their lives.
For many years, Dennis worked diligently as a longshoreman in Kearny, where his strong sense of responsibility and camaraderie was appreciated by all who worked alongside him. His dedication to his profession was matched only by his commitment to his family and friends.
Beyond his professional life, Dennis was known for his love of Atlantic City, where he enjoyed the excitement and vibrancy of the boardwalk and casinos. He cherished the simple moments, like sipping coffee with his brothers and friends at Dunkin Donuts, where laughter and conversation were always in abundance. However, the true highlight of his life was the time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart.
Dennis's interests reflected his belief in the importance of community and connection. His presence was a source of stability and love, and he will be remembered for the strength and comfort he provided to those around him.
As we bid farewell to Dennis, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, hard work, and precious memories. His spirit and the values he upheld will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
