Derek J. Orlando, a cherished son, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 42 on December 7, 2023, in Keansburg, New Jersey. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and at the age of ten moved to Keansburg, Derek grew up in a vibrant and loving household alongside his parents, Hector and Liza Castell Seda and his four brothers, Carmine Orlando, Desi Castell, Christian Castell, and Julian Castell.
Derek proudly played football for the Keansburg Titans, demonstrating both skill and sportsmanship. His love for the game transitioned into a lifelong support for the New England Patriots, and his admiration for Tom Brady was well-known among his family and friends.
After his time on the field, Derek answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. Following his military tenure, Derek worked as a mason with Arena Construction.
Derek was known for his unwavering support and deep affection for his family. He was an exceptional older brother, always there for his siblings, offering advice, support, and the kind of guidance only a brother could. He was a beloved nephew to Uncle Mike, Aunt Liz, Uncle Richie and Aunt Jennifer also many cousins especially Jay and his late wife Tara. Derek's love for his mother was profound, along with the wonderful bond he had with his father and his desire for the well-being and happiness of his family was at the heart of everything he did.
Derek was an all-around nice guy who approached each day with a smile and a readiness to help others. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to the many lives he touched. His absence will be deeply felt by his family and the countless friends who were fortunate enough to know him.
Derek's memory will forever be cherished and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
