Eileen M. Schaab, 92, a beacon of warmth to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024. Born on October 24, 1931, in Keansburg, Eileen lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her community.
Eileen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 72 years, Wallace "Wally" Schaab Sr., who passed away in 2019, and her brother, Edward Healy, who left us in 1990. Her enduring spirit is carried on by her loving family: her sons, Wallace Jr. Schaab (Christine) of California, Thomas Sr. Schaab (Edna) of Mississippi, and Mark Schaab of Keansburg; her daughter, Patricia (Jack) McCarthy of Keansburg; her sister-in-law, Agatha Healy of Keansburg; her cherished grandchildren, Thomas Jr. and Christopher Schaab, John McCarthy and Deven and Pat Turner; and her adored great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Olivia Schaab and Riley Turner.
Throughout her life, Eileen was the epitome of diligence and care in her professional roles. As a bookkeeper, she served various businesses with unwavering precision and dedication. Her career spanned several companies, including Modern Pharmacy, Garden State Roofing, and later, the Bayshore Senior Center in Keansburg, where she continued to make an impact until her retirement. Eileen's sharp mind and attention to detail were matched only by her kindness and willingness to help others.
Beyond her professional life, Eileen was deeply involved in her community. She was a proud life member of the New Point Comfort Ladies Auxiliary, where her efforts contributed greatly to the organization's success. Her role on the Keansburg Planning Board, where she was a voice for thoughtful development and community improvement.
Eileen's love for reading was well-known, as she could often be found with a book in hand, lost in the stories. But above all, Eileen's heart belonged to her family. She treasured every moment spent with them, whether it was a grandchild's quiet afternoon conversation, or a bustling family gathering. Her love and guidance shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving a legacy of love and strength that will endure for generations to come.
Eileen's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her memory will be cherished forever. Her unwavering integrity, compassionate nature, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eileen M. Schaab will be profoundly missed, but her light will never fade.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, June 26th, at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Ann’s Church, Keansburg, burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
