Elizabeth F. “Betty” Kovacs, 81, of Keansburg, passed away on Saturday, May 20th, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Bayonne prior to moving to Keansburg in 1972.
Betty retired from Wackenhut, where she worked in security for many years. In 1979 she had run for the Borough of Keansburg Council, she enjoyed going to the racetrack and loved everything about horses, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, and bowling. Betty was also the first female assistant basketball coach for the Hazlet Township school system.
Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents, James and Anna Jaggers, her sister, Patricia Kumbatovic, her first husband, John Bankowski, and her second husband, Charles Kovacs. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Collen Bankowski of Monroe, Brian and Judy Bankowski of Freehold and James Bankowski and his fiancé Leslie Drummond of Rumson-Fair Haven; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Edward Prentiss Jr of Keansburg; two grandchildren, KayLynn, and Mary; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Olivia, and Katelyn; and her nephew and his wife, Robert and Dee Kumbatovic of Bridgewater.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, May 26th, from 9 am to 11 am, at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. A religious service will be held after the visitation and the burial will follow immediately after at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
