Joan E. (Kelly) Welstead

Joan E. Welstead, 75, of Port Monmouth, passed away on Thursday, September 2nd, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was born and raised in Bronx, New York. Moved to Matawan where she raised her family. In the late 90's, she moved to Atlantic Highlands, prior to moving to Port Monmouth 6 years ago. Joan was a court clerk for the Freehold Court House of Monmouth County. She was a devoted Catholic and taught CCD classes at St. Catherine's Church, Middletown. Joan loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping. Joan was pre deceased by her husband, Michael Welstead in 1980. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Michael and Victoria Welstead of Port Monmouth; her 2 daughters and son in-law, Karen and John Dolan of Port Monmouth and Kimberly Welstead of Union Beach; her sister, Patricia Byrne of Bellmeade; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Riley, Thomas, John and James. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Wednesday there will be a 9:30 am Mass at St. Catherine’s Church, Middletown. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
