John Michael Henkel, 63, passed away on February 5, 2024, in Neptune. Born on September 14, 1960, in Manhattan, he moved in 1969 to Keansburg where he was raised, prior to moving to Keyport 10 years ago.
Predeceased by his parents, James and Maureen Henkel, and his sister Eileen Walters. He leaves behind his loving wife of seven years, Tammy Henkel of Keyport, with whom he shared a deep and abiding partnership. His memory will be cherished by his children: sons Thomas (Quintestusa) Henkel and John Paul (Jessica) Henkel, both of South Carolina, Keith (Jen) Bosler of Jackson. His daughter, Leighann Bosler of Keyport. John's brothers, James and Debra Henkel of North Carolina, and Joseph and Rita Henkel of Pennsylvania, will also hold his memory dear.
John's life was further enriched by his six grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended friends and family
John worked for FMI in Avenel. He was an avid player of softball, bowling, pool, and darts. His competitive spirit was always delivered with a sense of fun that made him a cherished teammate and opponent. Above all, John loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, with whom he shared not only his hobbies but also his heart.
John was a man who knew the value of hard work, but also the importance of making time for those he loved.
As we say goodbye to John, we celebrate a life lived with passion and kindness.
John Michael Henkel will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Saturday, February 10, 2024, there will be a celebration of life at Calvary Methodist Church 50 Osborn Street, Keyport at 10 AM. Cremation will be private.
