John S. McCloskey of Manhattan, New York and Keansburg, New Jersey, passed away at the age of 99 on Saturday, April 15, 2023. John “Mickey” McCloskey was born in Manhattan on January 24, 1924. He spent his childhood there and at the age of 18 he joined the US Army Air Force where he flew many missions over Europe in World War II. Upon his return, he served for more than 35 years in the New York Police Department as both an officer and a sergeant. He was a proud and active member of the Emerald Society, Knights of Columbus and Arthur’s Roundtable. John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Isabelle McCloskey (nee Doherty), his children, Margaret Mullen, Noreen Gallagher and John McCloskey and his wife, MaryKay. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses, James and Kim Mullen, Kimberly Maher, Jean and Vincent Condon, Krista and Justin Wirley, Emily and Alex Schreiber, Nora and Tyler Sines and Kevin McCloskey. His legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of his five great-grandchildren, John Stephen, Victoria, Caitlin, Andrew and Bridget, as well with his dear cousins, nephews and nieces. Funeral Services and arrangements are pending.
