Joseph DaSilva, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at the age of 84 in Holmdel, New Jersey surrounded by his family. Born on July 14, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey where he was raised. Joseph served his country in the Navy from 1959 to 1963. Then in the Naval Reserves from 1963 to 1969.
He met his wife Kathleen in 1977 and built their lives and family together in Middletown, New Jersey. Joseph was a boilermaker in the Local 614 for 40 years. After retirement, Joseph explored some of his entrepreneurial ambitions which led to memorable experiences and long-lasting relationships.
Joseph was a loving son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. His generosity and acts of kindness knew no limits. Family, friends, and neighbors could always count on Joe for help whatever the situation.
His love for the sea did not fade after his naval service. Joseph was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the sea. Whether it be taking a cruise with his family or just walking his beloved dog on the beach, the sea was always a part of his life. Joseph also enjoyed spending time with his wife in Atlantic City, family trips to Wildwood, bowling, and spending time with his friends.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen of 45 years, his daughter Janele of New Egypt, his son Joseph of Middletown, his grandson Andrew of New Egypt, and his extended family and friends.
Joseph had a strong work ethic and enjoyed working with his hands. Joseph applied his talents and skills to whatever he did. There was no job too small or sacrifice too great to accomplish his objectives. As a loving father and husband Joseph instilled his passion for excellence, can-do attitude, and resilience into his children. Joseph’s motto was to always build things twice as strong so that you only build them once. That was Joseph in a nutshell, “twice as strong”.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals Inc. 233 Carr Avenue, Keansburg, NJ. Joseph's wishes were to be privately cremated.
