Josephine Ann Donohue, a cherished and beloved figure, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 87 in Bayside Manor, Keansburg. Born on July 24, 1938, in Hoboken, NJ, she was a daughter of the late George and Antoinette Walsh and the devoted wife and grandmother of the late John Donohue Sr., who predeceased her in 1988 and John Donohue III in 2000. Josephine's warm spirit and loving nature were a beacon of light for all who knew her.
Josephine spent her early years in Hoboken before moving to Keansburg in 1965, where she quickly became an integral part of the community. She was a dedicated nurse’s aide at Beachview Nursing Home, Keansburg for over three decades, providing care and comfort to countless individuals with her compassionate touch and warm smile. Her work ethic and dedication to helping others were an inspiration to everyone around her.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devout communicant of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Keansburg, she found great solace and joy in her church activities. Josephine's passion for life was evident in her many interests. She was a skilled knitter, creating beautiful pieces that she lovingly shared with friends and family. Her cookies and cream puffs were legendary, bringing sweetness and joy to any gathering. Josephine's love for bingo was well-known, and her enthusiasm for the game was contagious.
Above all, Josephine was a family woman. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Cathy Donohue of Middletown, Thomas and Sandra Donohue of Union Beach, and John and Carmela Donohue Jr. of Keansburg. Her spirit will live on through her three sisters, Edna Walsh of Little Ferry, Lorraine Pera of Barnegat, and Patricia Clark of Little Ferry. Her passing is deeply felt by her six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, who were the light of her life. Josephine was a nurturing presence who delighted in the growth and accomplishments of each generation.
Josephine's loss is also mourned by a host of extended family members, friends, and those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her impact on the community and the lives she touched will be remembered fondly. She was a woman of strength, kindness, and unwavering love, and her absence will be felt by many.
Josephine's journey through life was marked by an enduring sense of joy and an unshakeable commitment to her loved ones. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the countless memories she created with those around her.
