Kathleen Finan Obituary

Kathleen A. Finan, known affectionately by friends and family as Kathy, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on August 7, 2024, in Nazareth, PA. Born on August 7, 1951, in West Keansburg, moved to Port Monmouth with her husband Dennis in 1979, before moving to Forks Township in Pennsylvania in 2005. Kathy lived a life marked by love, dedication, and joy which touched all who knew her.

Kathy was predeceased by her cherished parents, Joseph Headden and Dorothy Patton, as well as her brothers. Her memory will be lovingly remembered and carried on by her devoted husband, Dennis W. Finan Sr., her proud sons, Dennis W. Finan Jr. and James Finan and his fiance  Caitlin Zitzman, and her caring daughter, Melissa Vasquez, and son-in-law Ken. Kathy was also the adored grandmother to Matthew, Michael, and Kara Vasquez, and Morgan and Max Hemburger, who will miss her dearly.

For five years, from 1996 to 2001, Kathy owned and operated Kathy's Deli on Florence Ave. in Union Beach, where she was known for her warm hospitality and the sense of community she fostered. Her deli was more than a place to grab a sandwich; it was a neighborhood hub where friends and family gathered.

Beyond her entrepreneurial spirit, Kathy was known for her vivacious personality and her hobbies that brought her much joy. A huge fan of Bingo and the excitement of Atlantic City, she could often be found with the thrill of the game lighting up her eyes and a smile on her face. She also had a passion for crafting, with beading and quilting being among her favorite pastimes. Her intricate and colorful creations were cherished by all who were lucky enough to receive them.

Kathy will be remembered not just for her activities and accomplishments, but also for the everyday moments that defined her. She was seldom seen without a large cup of Dunkin Donuts Coffee in hand, a simple pleasure that was quintessentially Kathy. Her zest for life and ability to find joy in the small things served as a constant reminder of the beauty in the world.

Those who knew Kathy were touched by her kindness, her unwavering support, and her ability to make each person feel special. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives she enriched. Kathy's spirit will continue to shine in the stories shared by friends and family and in the love that blankets the family she leaves behind.

Kathy's presence will be profoundly missed, but the impact of her life will be everlasting. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace, and they will hold her close in their hearts until they meet again. Kathy will be privately cremated and family and friends are invited  for a Celebration of Life, on Friday, August 16th, from 3-7pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. A religious service will concluded the evening.
