Kay F. Carroll, a cherished soul known affectionately as Kay to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, just a few days before what would have been her 72nd birthday. Born on August 11, 1952, in the heart of Virginia, Kay was raised in Newark where she met the love of her life Ken. Kay and Ken moved to Harrison where they raised there children, before moving to Aberdeen and then Keansburg 6 years ago. Kay's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of giving and an infectious joy that touched all who knew her.
Kay was pre-deceased by her parents, Lee Grand and Annabelle Dawson Layton, as well as her brothers Allen, Tommy, Shannon, and Butchie Layton, and her sisters Candy Lou Layton, Libby Booth and Judy Layton. Her legacy is carried on through her loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth Carroll, her grandson, Chase Carroll and her adored daughter-in-law, Carla Porto. Kay's warmth and wisdom will forever resonate with her sisters, Linda Layton, Penny Williams, and Bonnie Gutierrez
Kay's professional life was dedicated to nurturing young minds as a teacher's aide at Red Bank Middle School, where she served the community for 15 years before retiring a decade ago. Her passion for education and her dedication to her students left an indelible mark on countless lives. She will be remembered for her dedication, kindness, and the gentle guidance she provided to everyone she worked with.
Kay was a woman of many interests and simple pleasures. She found joy in the excitement of Atlantic City, where she could often be found trying her luck and enjoying the vibrant energy around her. Bingo nights were a particular favorite, a hobby that allowed her to combine her love for games with the company of friends. At home, Kay's presence was a comforting and loving force, and her home was a sanctuary for those she held dear.
In every aspect of her life, Kay lived with a heart full of love and a spirit of generosity. Her laughter was a melody that will echo in the memories of those who loved her. As the sun sets on a life so beautifully lived, we bid farewell to Kay F. Carroll, a woman of grace, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend.
As per Kay's wishes she will be cremated privately. Arrangements were under the care of the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals Inc. 233 Carr Avenue Keansburg, NJ 07734
