Margaret Gallagher Obituary

Margaret A. Gallagher, 79, a cherished matriarch and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, at the age of 79 in Holmdel. She was born and raised in Bayonne, prior to moving to Keansburg in 1954. Margaret's life was characterized by her unwavering kindness and enduring love for her family.

Predeceased by her parents, George and Anna Shipley, and her loving husband, Hugh G. Gallagher, who passed away in 2011, Margaret was a source of strength and inspiration for all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Margaret Drucker, and her three brothers, Peter and Paul Shipley, and John "Jack" Shipley. Her legacy continues through her two sons, Hugh Gallagher of Atlantic Highlands and George Gallagher of Keansburg; her two daughters, Kathleen Gallagher-Cintron of Keansburg and Patricia Rozzo-Pigott of Keansburg; her brother George Shipley of Louisiana; her five adoring grandchildren, KristiAnn, Eric, Megan, Hugh, and Marisa; and her nine great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory dear.

Margaret's professional life was marked by her dedication to the well-being of others. As a social worker for Monmouth County Social Services. Her civic engagement extended to working as a Board worker for the Polls, where she encouraged and facilitated with grace and efficiency.

Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly on the boardwalk, where she brought joy to many through her stands—the horse race stand, music stand, and toy stand. Her love for the vibrant community life of the Jersey Shore.

Margaret's passions extended well beyond her professional and civic engagements. She was an exceptional cook, whose culinary delights were the centerpiece of family gatherings. Her love for travel took her to many beautiful places, but she found equal joy in the simple pleasure of decorating her home for the holidays, it was a reflection of her warm spirit.

Above all, Margaret cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and family. Whether it was a quiet afternoon sharing stories or a boisterous holiday celebration, her presence was a source of comfort and joy.  Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
