Mary Ruth Borges

Mary Ruth Borges, 79, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, in Red Bank. Born in Newark on August 3, 1943, she spent her 79 years enriching the lives of those around her with her love, warmth, and kindness.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerard Borges, in 1993, and her son, Daniel Burton, in 2017. She is survived by her son, Edward Burton of Pennsylvania; her three daughters, Ginger Rogan (Steve) of Hazlet, Deborah Meyer (Fred) of Florida, and Mary Davis (Glen) of Belford; and her brother, Richard (Lupe) Fassett of Texas. Her legacy also lives on in the hearts of her many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

Working as a bus aide for the Shamrock Bus Company in Keansburg. She was a familiar and comforting presence to countless students over the years, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

In her leisure time, Mary had a fondness for Atlantic City and traveling. She loved to read and watch football especially Tom Brady. She loved cards and games, but above all else, Mary loved spending time with her family. Her home was always open. She was a beacon of love to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her world, and she was theirs.

She will be deeply missed, but her memory will be cherished forever.
