Sonia Muniz

Sonia Muniz, 72, of Keansburg, passed away on Saturday, February 26th, at Laurel Bay Nursing Home, Keansburg. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, raised in the Bronx and Newark, prior to moving to Keansburg in 1998. Sonia worked in the immigration department of the IRS and also worked in several stores and many other jobs throughout her life. She was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. Sonia loved to cook she enjoyed doing puzzles and her family was the most important thing to her. She was pre deceased by her parents; Pedro and Theresa Muniz and her husband; Gregory Martinez and her son; John Figueroa Jr. . . She is survived by her son and daughter in-law; Raymond and Shondell Muniz. Three daughters; Victoria Figueroa, Lisa Figueroa and Irene Figueroa-Garris. Two brothers and sisters in-law; Raphael and Debra Muniz and Freddy and Michelle Muniz. Two sisters and brother in-law; Madeline and Anthony Muniz-Cardinale and Justina McMillian. Eighteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Many extended family and friends.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Thursday there will be a 9:00am  at the funeral home, burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Linden.
