Theresa E. (nee) Nann Maher, 94, of Keansburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16th, surrounded by her family. She was born in New York and was the youngest of five sisters, She met and Married Edward T. Maher there in 1947 and had eight children.
The family frequently vacationed in Keansburg taking the City of Keansburg steamship from the battery in New York. Eventually they moved to Keansburg in 1959. Theresa worked for Dixie Lee bakery in Keansburg and then later worked for 20 years at Bayshore Community Hospital. Theresa and her husband enjoyed going on numerous cruises and attending Broadway shows together. She was a member of the Bayshore Senior Center and enjoyed going to the Count Basie Theater and bus trips to Atlantic City. Theresa was a communicant of St. Ann’s R.C. Church. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Theresa was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Edward T. Maher; three sons, Edward Jr., James and Michael; four sisters, Agnes, Mildred, Josephine and Phyllis.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kathi) Maher, Terry (Lisa) Maher, Norine (William) Kryscnski, Joseph (Bonnie) Maher and Eileen (Richie) Maher. Her daughter in-law, Terri (wife of Michael) Maher; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, April 21st, from 4-8pm, at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Saturday there will be a 10:00am Mass at St. Ann’s R.C. Church. Interment to follow at Shorelands Cemetery, Hazlet.
