Tiki L. Whatley Underwood was born on April 28, 1975, to Walter and Mary Underwood. She passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024, in Keansburg, NJ, at the age of 48. Tiki's vibrant spirit and warm heart touched many throughout her life.
Tiki was predeceased by her beloved father, Walter Underwood, and beloved brother, TJ. She is survived by her cherished mother, Mary Jean Underwood, and her stepfather, Walter Hicks ; her devoted daughters, Khadijah Whatley, Nykira Whatley, and Aaliyah Coleman; along with their father, Eddie Coleman; her dearest best friend; her caring brothers, Calvin, Marty, and Anthony; her loving sisters, Cheryl, TeShemma, and Demetria; and her adored grandchildren, Averi, Evan, and Levi; along with and many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended family.
While is school, Tiki graduated top of her class in mathematical physics and was very intelligent.
Professionally, Tiki was a respected teacher's assistant at Totsville. Hazlet where she was known for her leadership and dedication.
Tiki's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She was a true family woman, putting her heart and soul into every moment spent with her daughters and grandchildren. Tiki's love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and her legacy of love will live on through them. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence at family gatherings will be profoundly missed.
An avid New York Giants fan, Tiki's enthusiasm for her team was unwavering, and she enjoyed nothing more than cheering them on surrounded by friends and family. Her love for music and singing was a joy to witness, along with listening to her dad play musical instruments.
Tiki's love for the beach and basking in the sun was a testament to her appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She had an incredible sense of humor that shone brightly, even leading her to explore the world of stand-up comedy for a time. Her humor brought light to many lives, and her ability to find the funny in everyday situations was a gift to all who knew her.
A confidant and best friend, Tiki was the person many turned to for advice, a listening ear, or a shoulder to cry on. Her kindness was boundless, and she had a profound impact on the lives of those around her. As a mother, Tiki was unparalleled. Her daughters knew they had in her not just a parent, but a best friend, mentor, and unwavering supporter.
Tiki L. Whatley will be remembered as the embodiment of joy, kindness, and unwavering love. Her legacy is one of laughter, generosity, and an ability to make each person she met feel special.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00 am, at the Providence Baptist Church 15 Lincoln Ave. Cliffwood, NJ 07721. Cremation was private.
