Virginia “Ginger” Whalen, 75, of Holmdel, passed away at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel, on Wednesday, July 27,2022. She was born and raised in Manhattan, NY to William and Virginia (Daly) Whalen on May 17,1947, lived in Stuyvesant Town, NY before moving to Keansburg 53 years ago.
Ginger worked for Prudential Insurance Company, as an underwriter for over 20 years. She enjoyed going to brunch with her St. Ann’s PTA ladies, in her younger years she loved to shop at B Altman Co in New York and even later in life just loved to shop in general, she was an avid reading, was a very proud New Yorker, loved her Irish Heritage, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Virginia was predeceased by her parents, William and Virginia Whalen, and her brothers, Billy Whalen and Dennis Whalen. She is survived by her 3 loving sons and daughter in-law, Shawn (Margaret) Ecklof of Hazlet, Shannon Ecklof of Port Monmouth and Patrick Ecklof of Bradley Beach; a brother and sister in-law, Dermott and Regina Whalen of New York; a sister Joellen McDonnell of New York; six grandchildren, Tara, Keaira, Ryan, Connor, Patrick and Aidan; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals Inc. 233 Carr Avenue, Keansburg. On Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022, at 10:00 am there will be a Memorial Mass at St. St. Ann’s Church 311 Carr Avenue, Keansburg.
